Affordable Dust Control Solutions

The Importance of Dust Control Solutions

Not a lot of people are aware that there are actually dust control solutions people can use in order to control dust.

In most cases, dust is harmless but there are people who are extra sensitive to it. Their body reacts to too much dust – their nose gets runny, their eyes watery and their throat and ears itchy. There are also times when they develop rashes due to dust.

If you have asthma, you should also stay away from dust as it can cause your asthma to attack.

Dust Control Solutions for Industrial Places

Industrial places are dustier than homes. Places such as construction areas, mines and roads need dust control solutions in order to minimize dust.

Aside from preventing the employees from getting sick from all the dust, using dust control solutions will also lessen accidents.

For instance, too much dust will lessen the visibility on roads making vehicle collision very possible.

In construction area, people go up unfinished buildings and visibility is very important so they know where they’re going. Cases of people falling off unfinished buildings have happened in the past and I’m sure you don’t want that to happen in your building.

Construction area will also need dust suppression systems because it control airborne dust without wetting the product or site machinery. This system is fully installed and integrated into all processes and suppress dust without the need for expensive extraction systems.

Dust Control Solutions for Homes

While homes don’t get dusty that easily, it’s still important for homeowners to control dust in their homes. While there are commercial dust control solutions specifically made for homes, you don’t need it unless a family member is really allergic to dust.

There are very simple dust control solutions that you can at home such as replacing curtains with blinds. Curtains are very good at catching dust in the air, and then dust can fly off when the curtain is moved just a bit.

Displays such as books and picture frames are also very good dust gatherers. In fact, anything that’s not touched regularly gather dust so you might want to get rid of them. A good test is the 6 months test. If you haven’t touched anything for 6 months – like the books on your shelf or the magazines under your center table – then it’s time to get rid of it.

If throwing them away is not an option then you might want to keep them in boxes in the attic instead. This way, you can take them out whenever needed.

What Is Soil Stabilisation?

Soil Stabilisation

When building a structure over a piece of land, may it be a building or a road, engineers have to make sure that the soil is stable enough to support heavy concrete and metal which is used for the structure’s skeleton.

No, building a structure is not as easy as choosing a site and then start building over it. Construction of anything entails making sure that the soil or land will not crack or slide down once the structure is finished.
This is where soil stabilisation comes in. Soil stabilisation is the process of using certain chemicals and methods to ensure that the soil will be able to accommodate heavy structures.

How Important is Soil Stablisation?

Soil stabilisation is extremely important, especially nowadays. Long ago, people can look for the best soil and build a structure over it. Nowadays, the best soils already have structures over them, but people still need to expand, which is why we have no choice but to build over soils even if they are not stable enough.

Without soil stabilisation, the places where structures are built can slide down over time. This will cause cracks on the structures and then the building will be deemed unsafe. This will become a big lost to the company who had it built.

Soils that were not stabilised can also be very dangerous. Whenever heavy rain pours down, it makes soil softer which makes it less stable. If the soil did not go through the stabilisation process, it can slide down and put the people inside the building in danger.

What are the Benefits of Soil Stabilisation?

Soil stabilisation has a lot of benefits. Probably the biggest benefit is that it allows a safer place for structures to be built over, which extends to the safety of the people using the building.

Soil stabilisation also provides roads with higher resistance values. This means the road won’t crack easily. Not only is this safer for people, but it also allows savings for the government in terms of road repair.

Another advantage of soil stabilisation is that provides “all-weather” access into and within projects. Some construction projects are difficult to access, especially by heavy-duty trucks which is essential in making these projects possible. By using road stabilisation techniques, it’s easier for heavy trucks to go in and out of construction areas.

Dust Control for Homes with Children

Dust Control – The Health Hazards Caused by Dust

If you’re allergic to dust, they will be one of the elements you’re going to hate the most. I’m allergic to dust and even if I can’t actually see any of them, my nose and my throat seems to detect them without any problem. My nose starts itching as well as my throat, and then my eyes and my ear follow. When I say “itchy”, it’s not on the surface where you can easily scratch it. It’s way inside where it’s impossible to scratch.

You know how it is when a part of your back get’s really itchy and you can’t reach it? That’s how it feels. Oh, not to mention that I start sneezing every few seconds and I just can’t stop it!

As it turned out, there are other illnesses caused by dust too. While many of them don’t happen unless you’re regularly exposed to large amounts of dust, some of them can be caused by house dust which is why it’s important that we protect our children using dust control.

Some of the illnesses caused by dust include humidifier fever (caused by dust or mist), Mushroom worker’s lung (caused by compose dust) and Cheese washer’s lung (caused by mould dust).

Dust Control for Homes with Kids

So, what’s the best dust suppression system for homes with kids?

The best dust control system to use is, simply, keeping your house clean at all times. Now, I don’t mean surface cleaning as this is not enough.

Aside from regularly cleaning your house, it’s also very important that you identify the “breeding ground” for dust in your house.

Carpets, for instance, are very good breeding ground for dust. If you can’t vacuum it regularly, you might want to consider replacing it with a different floor covering instead. A better alternative to carpets are area rugs, although take note that while they don’t produce as much dust as carpets, they still produce dust.

More Dust Control Tips for Houses with Kids

Another way to proceed with dust control is to minimize displays at home. Anything that just sits on a shelf like books, figurines and the like harbor dust. If they’re not necessary, it will be better to just remove them. Keep them in a box in the attic instead of displaying them.

Dust Control Solution for Your Home

Dust Control Solution – Is it Possible to Control Dust at Home?

A lot of parents are wondering if it’s indeed possible to control dust in their homes. Back when my child was young, I always get worried that there’d be too much dust in the house and she’ll end up with asthma or get allergic to dust.

Now, as every parent with children knows, it’s not that easy to keep the house clean at all times and keep the dust out! Aside from the fact you might have a job to hold, it’s also impossible to keep the house tidy at all times when there are kids running around and messing up everything!

Dust Control Solution – Tips for Keeping Dust Out of the House

·         Let go of the heavy drapes – Curtains and drapes are very good in catching dust, so you might want to skip them altogether and go for blinds or shutters instead. Because these are easier to clean, dust will not gather in them.

·         Replace your furnace filter regularly – Forced air heating systems are known for blowing around dust. To stop this from happening, change your furnace filters every three months and always check for congestion.
·         Mind your closet – The closet is a very good dust-gatherer. If there’s one area of your closet that you don’t touch often, go to it right now and try swiping the surface with your finger. Chances are, it’s covered in dust. So, if  there hangers of clothes that you only wear once in a while, consider storing them in plastic containers instead and buy organizers for bags and shoes so dust don’t gather in them.

·         Get rid of your carpets – Sure, carpets really look nice but they’re not allergy-friendly. Aside from gathering dust quickly, the “hair” used on carpets easily flies into the air causing allergies.
