Fact # 1 – There are
Many Systems Used in Dust Control
When we hear “dust control”, most of us
automatically think of a slow-running vehicle spraying the streets with dustcontrol solutions. While most cities around Australia employ measures
to make sure that dust in roads are minimized and this is their most preferred
way, there are actually a couple of systems used for dust control.
The one we always see is called calcium nitrate, which is an
element almost the same with salt. It’s very effective for keeping dust to the
ground so it doesn’t fly into the air. It’s preferred by a lot of companies
because it’s cheap although it needs to be properly prepared through mixing in
order for it to be effective.
Another popular system used in dust control is called
Dustex. Dustex is a brand name, and the solution used in it is derived from
Lignin, which is a natural polymer and a major component of wood. The best thing
about Dustex is that it’s made from natural products, making it safe for the
environment. Also, Dustex doesn’t only function as an effective dust control
but also for soil stabilisation.
Fact # 2 - Homes Need
Dust Control Too
Studies have found that babies raised in dusty homes are
more prone to become allergic to dust. Dust allergies include asthma and
experiencing itching in the eyes, nose, throat and ears whenever there’s too
much dust in the air.
There are a lot of ways to control dust at home, starting
with regular cleaning. Always make sure to properly vacuum the floor especially
if you have carpeted ones. You can also open the doors and windows whenever
vacuuming so the dust will go out instead of just going around the house.
Fact # 3 – Dust
Control Doesn’t Need to be Expensive
As mentioned, there are ways to do dust control at home and they doesn’t need to be expensive. Even
people who are extremely sensitive to dust can just buy a dehumidifier to clear
out the air of pollens and dust. Homes doesn’t necessarily need industrial dust
control solutions unless you’re leaving very close to a mine, dusty road or a
construction area. In these cases, I suggest using advance dust control
solutions as dust in these areas can be dangerous not only to you but
especially to your child.
